Rules

Affiliation

Latrobe Valley Dodgeball League is affiliated with the Victorian Dodgeball League (VDL) & the Australian Dodgeball Federation (ADF). Our rules are sourced directly from theirs, which are in turn sourced from The World Dodgeball Federation rule book. These rules are slightly modified to suit our venue and playing circumstances, however we aim to keep them as close as possible to the VDL/ADF.
Please see the rule book download button below.

Updates

Any updates or amendments to the rules will typically be made prior to the start of a new season.
In rare cases, the committee may vote to update or amend the rule book during a season, in which case team captains will be given at least 1 weeks notice prior to the update taking effect.
Updates or amendments will only be made as deemed necessary by the committee and will typically be the result of updates received from the VDL/ADF or venue-specific rules that may require tweaking for smoother game play.

Policies  &  Guidelines

Our league members can source policies, guidelines & our constitution via their team captain. Each captain has direct access to this information. If a member cannot find what they are looking for, or is unable to ask their captain to source this information, please contact the committee directly for assistance.

Court Size

Dodgeball is played on a 18 Meter long X 9 Meter wide court with activation lines that are 3 Meters from the center line (The same as a valley ball court).
We use low-tack tape to lay out our court should the lines not already be pre-marked.

This started off as a concept to help captains engage with players and broach a potentially awkward and contentious subject.
We are extremely proud to say that this was conceived and developed as a collaboration between the LVDL & the ADF (Australian Dodgeball Federation).

It is our hope that this will enable our captains, referees & experienced players to have meaningful conversations with their players, peers & new recruits.
